Obedient Plant
(Phystostegia virginiana)

Obedient
plant, or false dragonhead, prefers open, moist or wet swales,
ditches, thickets and stream banks.
The blossoms
are long-lasting as cut flowers. They are especially easy
to arrange because flowers pushed to face a different direction
will stay in their new positions obediently.
The true
dragonhead is found in Eurasia. The flower was thought to
resemble the open mouth of a dragon. The very similar
native American plant was discovered later and called the false
dragonhead. |
