What's Blooming in September?

The
September butterfly garden continues the yellow theme, but
now goldenrods join
the sunflowers.
False Sunflower,
Common Sunflower and
Evening
Primrose are still blooming exuberantly.
Touches of white are provided by
Boneset
and white
asters. The earliest pink and blue asters are starting
to bloom.
Along the back wall, you will see a few
Summer Phlox plants and in
the front of the border
Common Milkweed
is still in bloom.
The Savannah
shows more green than yellow -- many of the plants have gone to
seed, but there are still blossoms;
Queen Ann's Lace,
Purple Coneflower,
Feverfew,
Common Sunflower and native
grasses.
The round
bed in front of the center is filled with sunflowers and asters
just waiting to bloom in all their blue glory.
The roadside
plantings are never watered, so they are showing some stress.
Most of the Coreopsis and Black Eyed Susans have gone to seed
but the plants are healthy.
The
bird-feeding area behind the Center glories in
Queen Ann's Lace,
Common Milkweed and
Butterfly Milkweed. Native grasses
and
Cat-tails border the bubbling stream.
