PBRR Awarded the Keep Kansas City Beautiful Environmental
Excellence Award
Project Blue River Rescue has won the Keep Kansas City
Beautiful Environment Excellence award from Bridging the
Gap.

The
citation reads:
Revitalizing 41 miles of the winding Blue River is what
Project Blue River Rescue is all about. Organized by The
Friends of Lakeside Nature Center's Stream Team #175, the
largest one-day stream cleanup in Missouri just celebrated
its 15th anniversary. Built and sustained through
partnerships with state and local governments, businesses,
civic organizations and citizens, the Rescue has become a
model for other cleanups around the state and region. More
than 800 volunteers participated in the 2005 cleanup and
collected 1200 tires, cleaned more than 100 tons from 22
worksites, and planted 500 trees. During the past 15 years
more than 1000 tons of trash have been removed from the
beautiful Blue River
Vicki
Richmond, FOLNC Conservation Committee Chairman said, "The
Rescue has become a model for others to follow. We are
view as experts in this odd field. Lots of folks are using
our procedures and that makes our work sustainable. I'm
thrilled beyond words that, in our fifteenth year, we are being
so honored." |
