HOMESCHOOL SAMPLE
         CURRICULUM

Week 1

Introduction to plants and their parts, life underground, insects and their relationships to plants.  Compost Experiment.  Hike Fox Hollow Trail at Lakeside.

Week 2

Field trip to K C Community Gardens.  Learn about plants & their growth.  Discover how our food comes from plants -- taste fruits and veggies.

Week 3

Food chains connect plants & animals.  How do those animals eat? Look at various skulls, compare teeth and beaks.  Examine claws and paws that are helpful too.  Live animals round out the discussion.

Week 4

Nature Craft Day.  Dress appropriately as we check out those beautiful fall leaves.  A recycle craft project is in the plans AND a homework assignment for next week.

Week 5

"Green Day" at Lakeside Nature Center.  Learn environmental stewardship and things kids can do to lessen their carbon footprint.  Hike the Wetland.
