Lakeside Nature Center offers a variety of wildlife and environmental science programs and activities for families, children, schools, groups, and adults. Schedule an exciting program for your group or plan to attend one of our regularly scheduled wildlife presentations or events. A visit to Lakeside Nature Center is free. A small fee is charged for most programs.

  • Teachers work with Naturalists to design a wildlife program and outdoor hike for their students.  Due to staffing shortages, outdoor school opportunities are currently very limited. Call us at (816) 513-8960 for more information.

  • Opportunities for Scouts include individualized badge days, Webelo badges, Brownie Try-it and Girl Scouts Wildlife badges.  The Daisy, Brownie and Girl Scout badges are being revised to comply with 2012 GSA requirements.  Please contact the center at (816) 513-8960 for more information.

  • Homeschool Science Lab offers hands-on activities.
  • Young children enjoy Mother Nature Reads every Saturday.
  • Special Events, like Magic Woods,, Breakfast with Beasts, Earth Day, BUGS!, Celebrating Urban Birds, Kids, water, Fish, Bugs, and What's out at Night, provide a great learning experience for everyone.
  • Take a Hike with a Naturalist once a month
  • Use the scavenger hunt to add to the fun of a visit to the center.
