Hike with a Naturalist

Join a Lakeside Nature Center Naturalist to explore the trails around the center.  Dress appropriately for the weather of the day and bring along a water bottle.  The trailhead for the hike will be determined based on weather forecasts and the condition of trail options.  Each hike starts at 10:00 in the morning.

Wilma's Birthday Party

Wilma, the Ornate Box Turtle, is the oldest person at Lakeside Nature Center.  Her enclosure is one of the first things you see when you enter the Center.  Join us and learn about turtles, snakes, lizards, frogs and salamanders.  Make a take-home craft.  Get a tattoo. Magic Woods

Take a walk on the wild side with Mother Nature and her friends. A safe, fun activity for the entire family. Walk our Nature Trail and listen to animal characters tell their stories. Enjoy this enchanted evening at Lakeside Nature Center.

Heather's Art Garden - Solstice Version

Lakeside's birds of prey are traveling to Smithville to be part of Eagle Days. The event will take place at  Paradise Point Golf Course Complex in Little Platte Park. 
Show times on Saturday are 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, and 2:00.  Sunday show times are 11:00, 12:30, and 2:00.  The viewing station location will be determined the day before the event.

Little Blue River Watershed Coalition and Heart of America Fly Fishers invite you to bring your children and learn all about the bugs in our streams, the fish that eat them and what they can tell us about the quality of the water.
